Indiana State Coach Jim Wiede and his staff have been busy this summer. In the past few weeks Wiede's Sycamores have received verbal commitments from Laura Rudolphi, a 6-2 post player from Carlyle, Ill., a two-time Class A first team All-State selection by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, and Tamara Shelton, a 6-4 center from LaRue County, Ky.
Rudolphi averaged 23.0 ppg, 8.7 rpg. and 3.3 blocked shots in 2002-03 and finished 27th in the Chicago Tribune Miss Illinois Basketball polling this past season and was among the top 10 underclassmen.. She enters her senior year with 1566 career points.
Shelton, who has been on several national lists as a top prospect, has been a starter for LaRue County since she was in the 8th grade. Last season, she accumulated 18.7 ppg. and 8.7 rpg. She was named to the Louisville Courier-Journal third team All-State in 2002-03. In two of the four years she has played varsity basketball, Tammy has led the state in field goal percentage. This past season she finished third, hitting 66.7%.
Both Rudolphi and Shelton are members of the Class of 2004 and their commitments are not official until they sign a national letter of intent in November .
