Oak Hill is for real. The Pickering girl led all scorers with 34 pts and 9 rebounds. Kayla Drake led the Kats with 19, 12 coming in the 4th quarter. We got down 18 at one point and came within 5 with about a minute to go. Good luck to Oak Hill tommorrow against Huntington.

Oak hill was a sizzling 22-32 from the field, and due to some reaching on Kokomos' part was able to connect on 29 free throws. Kokomo was able to connect on more shots, hitting 24, but had to take 62 to do that while settling on outside jumpers early and not able to get inside or draw fouls. Once Kokomo utilized their speed and started driving, they were able to get to the line and connect on 14 free throws of their own, not to mention, forcing 27 OH turnovers. That was when Kokomo made the run and put a big scare in to the OH fans and team, as they had dominated the game up to that point. Kokomo showed a lot of heart in making the comeback, and OH showed a lot af talent in getting an 18 point lead to begin with. This was an exciting fast paced game with very physical in your face full court pressure, fun to watch, and all fans should be proud of how hard all the girls played.
Kokomo learned something from this as they came back strong against Arlington, leading by double digits throughout.
I believe that even OH might have learned a little from the win over Kokomo, as they came back and played almost an identical game against Huntington North; but when HN made the run like Kokomo did, OH shut it down, never allowing the lead to dip in to single digits. Great weekend for the OH faithful! As a loyal Kokomo fan, I can tell you that OH has something special going on over there. That team is still young, very talented, very unselfish, and has a great team chemistry! All you OH fans enjoy this year and next, because teams with that much talent and chemistry don't come along very often. We have had our share here in Kokomo, we know how fun they are to watch. For you OH students and parents who don't go watch this team play, you are missing something very special over there, the entire student body, teachers, and all parents of any student needs to get out there and watch this very special group of young ladies-you won't regret it, and maybe you will grow to love these girls. We Kokomo fans know, we have many past Lady Kats we still love today.
For you Kokomo girls out there, great job, great heart out there as well. Giving up would have been easy, but you took the high road and faught back, and had one or two bounces gone our way, who knows what could have happened. We fans are very proud of you all!! Keep growing as a TEAM, and trust in yourself and your teammates, and keep working on team chemistry- once you become ONE-this team will make some noise. The talent is there, just need to fine tune it a little. Both these teams have a great season ahead of them.
