Steve, As you know I over the years here at DACC have sat young women for missing classes, getting bad grade reports on our monthly grade checks. EDUCATION should be the focus. This year alone I sat a gal 5 games because she skipped classes, missed assignments. We as coaches need to uphold standards for our student/athletes.

Ice, your thread is troubling but not surprising. We then wonder why our kids are ill prepared for the real world.
And yes, this thread is a microcosm of why private schools do so much better, per capita, than public schools in the tourney. They expect a minimum standard in all aspects of the student athletes and they get it. That standard is well above "passing a class". Being a student athlete is a privelege not a right and a school should treat it that way.
If you go through life doing the bare mimumum and then act surprised that you are outperformed by others it's probably a result of someone not pushing you to do better.
