I made the statement on here last year that I thought people's expectations of Xavier were overblown. I said that because they had consistently been a one-and-done team in the tournament the last few years, but also said that if they made the Sweet Sixteen I would be happy for them and would be the first one on the board to congratulate them. So, here I am. I think it was evident througout the season that they would go far in the tourney (although they barely got into the Sweet Sixteen by squeaking by Vanderbilt). Now, they have not only made the Sweet Sixteen but are in the Elite Eight and I want to offer my sincere Congratulations. My daughter played against Amber for years in pre-high school ball and High School and against T'ashia a few times in high school. They and their teammates are both making their mark on women's college basketball and are outstanding representatives of Indiana basketball and the Ms. Basketball honor. Congrats to Browe, also, for your part in their development.

In case anyone on here hasn't turned on their tv, Xavier Vs. Stanford is on right now ESPN. Score 41-40 Stanford with 8:22 left.

One of the most terrible finishes I have ever seen. I feel absolutely awful for the xavier players. How do you not cut the ball handler off? Harris had the prime opportunity to double and trap pohlen right at midcourt but just let her run by....I was completely in awe last night.

Feel so bad for Dee Dee Jernigan today. That is NOT the way to end a college career, and I am sure she is devastated. The memories of those missed shots will dog her for some time to come.

They might have been attempting to not foul the ball-handler.

JW I feel the same way. I've always thought the most highly of her and nothing would have made me happier than for her basket (s) to be the winning baskets. Many moons ago my oldest was playing in a showcase with Dee-Dee and she was just a cut above everybody else on the floor. She fed my daughter on some incredible passes and made her look like a million dollars. She made everyone on that team look so much better when she was out there. Talked to her afterwards and she was just super gracious and humble. To an athlete that is as gifted and competitive as she is this is the kind of thing that nightmares are made of. They all want to be on the floor at the end and have the chance to make the play but it is so hard when the final whistle blows. I do think Xavier was the better team.

I flipped the TV off after that game and just lay there wide awake for 20 minutes with a sick feeling in my gut. My heart just aches for that kid today.

I was there Spaldy and I remember she did put on a show. Made players around her better. I'm planning on blocking last night out of my head.

Actually, I think that Xavier could have given Connecticut a better game than Stanford will. I guess we'll see.
