Terre Haute North hadn't beaten Carmel since this year's senior class were in 2nd grade. While Blaire Langlois and J.J. Williams were sidelined and unavailable, I don't think you're going to hear any Patriots players celebrating less enthusiastically. Aside from one tie in the 1st quarter, North led wire-to-wire. The Greyhounds had two runs that made things interesting. Trailing 21-12, they wrapped a 7-0 run around the halftime break to cut the lead to two. Then in the 4th, now behind 37-29, they closed the game on 8-1 spurt to put themselves in position for the win, but a late layup opportunity barely rolled off and Carmel's attempt for a last-second steal came up short.
Junior Nicole Anderson was a solid 8-14 from the field, including a couple of threes, and led the Patriots with 21 points and 11 rebounds. She got solid support from sophomore post Adrienne Pritchard, who added 6 points/7 boards in the low-scoring affair. Valpo signee Abby Dean led Carmel with 15 points/5 rebounds/3 steals while senior Beth Larson provided a 3rd quarter spark and finished with 9 points/6 rebounds.
