Just read the IHSAA proposal on moving the girls bball schedule up a week to get away from boys Sectional Finals. This has to be one of the worst ideas I have heard. The IHSAA would be asking all the AD's in the state to move bball season up and in order to do that would have to move all the fall sports up a week or condense their season by a week. I don't think that would go over very well. To change all this for the 8 schools that make the finals is absurd and the only conflict would be if the boys team from that same school makes the Sectional Finals. I know it happens but I would really like to know the odds on that. Also, It can effect girls games being moved early in the season because of football. This has happened at our school. A lot of girls team play prime time friday before the boys start. If we move up we could loss Friday games because of football sectionals. It happened this year at our school because our football team was in the Regional finals. Have they thought about that? Girls basketball does not want to loss the Friday games they have. More times than not if you play with schedules it creates other problems. The only problem I see is the State Final location. Find a place in INDY! I have heard that the Coliseum at the State Fairgrounds has been remodeled and will hold 8 to 9 thousand. Make that the girls home for the State Championship and leave the rest alone.

I believe the best possible solution is to condense one week, Our school has 2 games in the last week. I believe just about every school has one or two games in the last week. Surely the the AD's can find a couple Saturday's or a couple days during the week to play these games. this does not change the start and the girls Sectional is one week earlier. This has to be the easiest way and have the least effect on other programs.
