Wow that is hard to believe. Just double checked to make sure they didn't have her state listed wrong ( they had Whitney Thomas as Bloomington MN). But she isn't there.

It's sad ,but sometimes it takes a "wittle" more than just playing to make some of these national lists. Tara deserves to be on this one. She just needs to continue playing hard and everything will work out. See you soon, Tara.

Seems that the tall ones are the only ones. We need an All-American short team (5'5 & shorter)

There is one. They just don't print it. It would be too long.

Can't agree with you on that one GLC both have played in the state and national AAU tournaments and have attended individudal exposure camps over the past years. I would attribute it to the selection individuals or committes of not doing their homework!

S & S's is a "National" publication.

What I do believe or think of why they may not have made the team is that they both play a team game and do not command or demand the ball when playing at those camps or aau tournaments! Nothing flashy about either just dependable, hard working blue collar players that do all the things both little and big very well, JMHO anyway!

Sorry, but a girl who has not played one second of high school basketball should NOT be making this list yet. I don't care how good or how tall she is. That is like putting 8th graders on the honorable mention Hoosier Basketball list.......pluh--eeze....

To a point,I agree with you Coachie, but if that were the case, then you're also saying that Lebron James shouldn't be put on the NBA ALL Star ballot, either. Maybe ,you're right, but in each case I think the players in question have already proven themselves,on both state and national levels, against the best talent. In each case, they could be getting setup for failure. Only time will tell.

There should be little discussion why the Street & Smith mag has mostly girls over 5'10" on their Honorable Mention team. Very few freshman start Varsity at the D1 level. The school has time to improve a tall girl's game. A short girl - 5'6" and below will be an excellent player but have little "upside" having usually started at an early age and being near the top of her game by 18. A tall player can get better - a short girl can't get taller. If you want to see the minimum height requirements for top D1 schools - U of T, UConn, Duke, etc. look up their rosters. Hardly any players listed under 6'0" - including guards. At D1 level, driving to the basket means getting past a 6'3" center and giving up as much as 7" on a #2 guard on defense. Very few 5'5" - 5'6" girls can do this - regardless of high school stats. Basketball is a tall person's sport just as football is a big person's sport. There are exceptions but they just prove the rule.

Again, I think there should be list of all the top players in the nation below 5'7. I agree that height seems to weigh heavy on alot of the lists.

labron james shouldn't be put on the allstar list of anything........i hope the kid can handle his life......and hopefully he won't end up like some of these nba players who got it all too soon............which is my point on the other........putting these kids on a top state list as 8th graders or frosh who have not yet played a high school game is NOT a good thing......more and more of these girls/boys have a difficult time getting their heads through the doors as it is........i honestly believe that many times........it can ruin a kid's HS career because their head is NOT in the right place when getting so many upfront honors..........that would be like giving ME the teacher of the year award before i ever taught one day in a classroom...........at least that is the way "I" see it.......i am sure many out there disagree.....that is fine too............
